Although Western Red Cedar will weather over time to a silver gray color that might be naturally appealing, we recommend that you apply some kind of protective finish within two weeks of assembly (weather permitting), as it provides the best results both from an aesthetic and performance point of view. There are a number of exterior finishes available in most geographic areas that will extend the service life of the exterior siding on our products.

Discoloration and Stains
Even after applying an exterior finish to your Cedar Shed product, discoloration will occur over time. Usually dirt is the most common cause of discoloration and can easily be removed with a mild detergent using a brush. Water stains can also occur and can be difficult to remove. Using an oxalic acid solution works best in removing these stains.
